The Camp Experience

Our activities are bound to keep you busy and enthralled at what you will learn from our local guides who have spent most of their time living in the Okavango Delta. We boast amazing wildlife, located in a game rich area of the Okavango, we guarantee your experience with us will be unforgettable. At Cha Cha Mesi, we have tried to re-create a camp that takes you back in time with the sound of wood chopping in the late afternoon, wood fired hot water geysers and paraffin lamp throughout the camp at night providing that soft glow in the evenings. Throughout the lodge, there are black-and-white pictures of our family on safari. We are proud of our family and our history, and we would like to share it with our guests. Our camp is unashamedly nostalgic, not overly decorated but completely refined.

A Day At Chacha Metsi

The Camp Lifestyle

Our Camp Living space at Cha Cha Metsi

Our living room and dining area is under canvas overlooking a permanent lake. Enjoy dinks, play board games or sit back and enjoy the view. Private dinners can be arranged in advance.

Wander out to the boma in the evenings and sit around the fire. The grunts of the hippos provide the backdrop noise. Its classic safari
which, thankfully has not changed. We are privileged to be able to share this.

Our Activities

Game Drives

The diversity of habitat means diversity of game and it’s here in abundance. At Cha Cha you will see elephants, zebras, buffalos, hippos, wildebeest, and impalas, along with red lechwe waterbuck on almost all of the game drives.

Enjoy a scenic game drive to Lion Island. The landscape, reminiscent of prehistory, will take you on a journey to hopefully spotting some of our resident predators. Learn much from our guides about the birdlife in the Delta. So for the bird enthusiast and novelist alike the local knowledge is riveting.

Mokoro

Enjoy a mokoro trip on our beautiful waterways with experienced local community pollers. Here you will be immersed into the water sanctuary we call the Santidadibi river, in front of the camp. Enjoy a relaxing slow adventure through the Lillys and across the channels as you gaze at the water life. We boast a beautiful water way that cuts through the reeds into the main channel. Here you will see all sorts of water life, including the odd elephant in the water and hippos from afar.

Horse Back Safari

Uniquely, and in partnership with Ride Botswana, we offer horse back safaris to those who have experienced riding abilities. These form part of the partnership we have with Ride Botswana.
Recently declared a World Heritage site, the unique Okavango Delta is a horse rider’s Eden.

David and Robyn Foot have over 41 horses which are fit and responsive, specifically schooled and adapted to the Delta. A number of these are permanently stabled close to the lodge.

The horses range in breeds from sporty to thoroughbreds X to hardy Apaloosas and tough African boerperds as well as some lovely Shire X Fresian X and wonderfully tempered Botswana Kalahari ponies – Perfect for children.

Note: This is available to experienced riders only at additional prices.

Walking Safaris

Our camp is situated amongst a beautiful plethora of fauna and flora. The island transports you into a wild, untouched realm of flourishing biodiversity. Our guides are trained specifically for the climate, keeping you safe and close at all times.

The walking safari gets you close to game, emersing you into tracking and spotting. The walk meanders through our open grasslands, passed the rivers edge and through the animal crossing areas. You will get up and close to the wildlife we live amongst, and learn all about our camps surroundings and how we co-exist with it.
